55+ Drivers Discount ProgramDrivers EducationOur 55+ defensive driving course is designed to assist senior drivers in updating their defensive driving skills, to aid in accident prevention. Anyone who is 55+ years of age is eligible for this class, as well as the discount! By completing this course and submitting the course completion certificate to your auto insurance agent, you will receive a 10% discount on your auto insurance premiums for 3 years! You are required to refresh this course every 3 years to continue receiving the discount, and DI Associates send you a friendly reminder when it is time to do this. Our course is informative and discussion based, and does not include a written or behind-the-wheel exam. The state of MN previously required an initial 8-hour course for those taking it for the first time. However, that requirement was reduced to a 4-hour course across the board. Elementary Sign Language ClassCreative ExplorationASL Vocabulary for Kids Come learn basic ASL vocabulary and discover how much fun it can be to communicate with your hands! In this interactive class, children will learn signs for letters, numbers, family members, colors, nature, and more. We’ll practice our new signs through storytelling, songs, movement, games, and other hands-on activities. Students will bring home handouts so they can continue practicing and sharing what they’ve learned with family and friends! Please Note: This class is an introduction to ASL vocabulary rather than a complete American Sign Language course. ASL is its own language with unique grammar and syntax that differs from spoken English. The goal of this class is to introduce children to ASL vocabulary, build a basic understanding and appreciation for the language, and encourage them to continue learning more in the future. Meet the Instructor Tracie Rieder is a former elementary teacher and Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH). She has worked closely with children and families through the Rochester Birth–3 Special Education Program and during her 23 years as a family child care provider. Love is a HugCreative ExplorationKnitting/ Looming Join Penni from "Love is a Hug" to learn how to create your own winter scarf or prayer shawl. You will be able to take the skills learned at class and create endless projects at home using the same loom. We will be using a knitting loom in class. Participants are required to provide a specific loom and a certain type of yarn.
